Cellulite Be Gone With A Healthy Diet Supplement

This condition is mostly common in women who are past the age of fifteen. This is due to the accumulation of fat on certain areas of the body during and after puberty. On the contrary, it is not common in men and this is probably due to the fact that men, unlike women, do not have hormones responsible for fat accumulation on specific areas of the body.

The body areas that are affected by cellulite include the thighs, buttocks, breasts, tummy, upper arms and along the waist line. In fact, these are the areas where fat normally accumulates during and after puberty in women.

Many people often incorrectly associate this condition with obesity. On the contrary, it also affects many people who are not even close to being obese. In fact, more than ninety percent of women who are past the stage of puberty have cellulite, mainly around the buttocks and thighs.

So, what exactly causes cellulite? The skin is normally made up of three layers of fat.

The subcutaneous layer is the one that normally develops this skin condition. This is because in women, the layer is usually has three upright chambers where fat is stored. The subsequent physiological changes that occur after this normally result in the formation of the cellulite.

These physiological changes mostly occur due to unhealthy lifestyles like smoking and eating diets that contain processed foods that are high in fat. In addition to that weight gain and lack of sufficient water intake also results in cellulite.

Fortunately, it is possible to get rid of cellulite but this requires a lot of effort over many years. One needs to live a healthy life and use the right cellulite removal creams.

jarrett - Just William's Luck: Are You My Mother? - Alison Bechdel

'Do you love me?'

Alison Bechdel's Fun Home is often lauded as one of the best graphic novels of recent years. Having missed the boat first time around I was prompted to give it a read when I got wind of the publication of a new book. In Fun Home Bechdel tells the story of growing up in the family's funeral home business and focuses on her father who could be reserved and wrapped up in his creativity one moment, aggressive and cold the next. After his untimely death Bechdel discovers that he had been a closeted homosexual who had slept with men and been in trouble with the law. At the same time she deals with her own burgeoning homosexuality. The book is almost like a family scrapbook and avoids a strict linear narrative opting instead for something far more complex and satisfying. It's a fabulous book and well worth reading if you haven't already in preparation for her latest graphic memoir.

It's useful to have the context because, as you can guess from the title this new book focuses on Bechdel's mother and that also includes the impact of the publication of Fun Home on both her and Bechdel. This book also rather brilliantly is about the writing of itself, Bechdel struggles with her attempts to write the opening section, so that the opening section becomes about her struggle to write it. This meta-textuality is common now in fiction but less so in graphic work and I found it not only entertaining but also far better suited to this medium. I gave HHhH a hard time for this kind of authorial commentary at the beginning of this month, mainly because it was so repetitive and irritating; reading this book shortly afterwards vindicated my thoughts as it showed the same game could be played (to greater effect) in just a few clever panels.

Now, I would have to write a lengthy post to really do justice to this book's complexity. Bechdel aims to get under the skin of her relationship with her mother, in fact of all her relationships, and we follow her long conversations with her, her therapy sessions and her wide reading around the subject of the relations between parent and child. This leads her to the work of psychoanalyst Donald Winnicot who pioneered the theories of the true self and false self (familiar to Bechdel already through the two sides she saw in her father) and the transitional object - that item of comfort like a teddy bear or blanket with which a child (or indeed adult) can form an important bond to substitute for that with their mother. The book is fascinating for this aspect alone, providing a wonderful summary of his ideas, theories and life but also looks wider than that as Bechdel mines her past for clues to explain not only her relationship with her mother but the series of relationships she goes through with various girlfriends.

Photographs, old letters and journals, even a very specific cartoon from Dr Seuss are all used as evidence and the non-linear structure again provides an amazingly satisfying reading experience. In fact for an author who claims to have struggled with the writing and structure of the book it is a deceptively accomplished piece. The sheer volume of what she is able to include is staggering. We learn about her, her mother, her girlfriends, her writing process, Winnicot, psychoanalysis, listening, love and acceptance. And that's before we mention the artwork.

Even the pages that are made up of standard panels are varied in their appearance and design but every now and then Bechdel opens up a double page spread into something else entirely. The three pages I've reproduced here give you an idea of what I mean, and how a shift in perspective is not just a huge visual treat but an opportunity for Bechdel to do something interesting with content too. The book also has a cumulative pleasure. Not only do we sense Bechdel getting closer to some kind of understanding and resolution (and therefore something like happiness) but we too benefit from her obvious intelligence and erudition. As I worked my way through the book I felt like I was being treated on so many levels; it just works harder than most 'graphic novels' so that as I finished the last page I was glad I'm no artist myself - I'm sure I would have felt very lazy indeed. Together, both books provide an intimate look at Bechdel's intriguing family, so different to our own and yet from which we could all probably learn something. I heartily recommend both.

Focus on safety in youth, high school football

A few years ago, Omaha businessman Larry Hagan was watching a news report on concussions in high school sports and decided to do something.

Today, Hagan and his son Steve, an orthopedic surgeon in Omaha, have combined to write checks for $20,000 a year to cover the cost of the ImPACT neurocognitive test for 38 high schools, colleges and other athletic associations throughout Nebraska.

"It just tore my heart apart watching these kids in football, soccer, other sports, and I thought that something has to be done," Hagan said.

The ImPACT test, which compares pre-concussion and post-concussion test scores to help determine an athlete's ability to return to play, has gained widespread use in professional and college sports. Now it may be catching on in high schools and youth programs as a tool that could help alleviate parents' safety concerns.

"I don't think we're too far from having and pre- and post-concussion tests mandated," said Shannon Gerrety, the football coach at Blaine High School near Minneapolis. "It hasn't been mandated yet, but it's going to be. It costs 5-7 bucks a kid to do the pretest, which adds another expense. But it's worth it."

While Gerrety said football is more popular than ever in his area, he is hearing more safety concerns from parents. Gerrety's 13-year-old son, Sam, got a concussion while playing quarterback last fall.

"The concussion thing definitely is an issue," Gerrety said. "Twenty years ago you had a headache; now you might have a concussion. I'm not downplaying it. We're definitely watching it closely. Coaches have to be teaching tackling the correct way. We constantly preach to kids the right way to do things. If you do that, and you have trainers and parents watching their kids, it's manageable."

Obama trying to defend record on spending and debt

Government spending and debt are emerging as a campaign tug-of-war.

Republican Mitt Romney blames President Barack Obama for a "prairie fire of debt." Obama calls the charge a "cowpie of distortion." Both candidates are reaching for unaligned, independent voters anxious about who's going to get stuck with the bill.

Spending and debt now rank as high on the worry scale as lack of jobs. And it has direct appeal to independents who could decide the election in about a half-dozen states being heavily contested by both campaigns.

Obama has taken a populist tone on reforming Wall Street and taxing corporations and the wealthy. But his defensive crouch on debt and spending reflect a hard reality: Polls consistently show voters, including independents, placing more trust in Romney to handle the debt.

Islamist and ex-PM vie for mantle of Egypt's revolt

CAIRO (Reuters) - The Muslim Brotherhood and a military man close to ousted leader Hosni Mubarak courted defeated first-round candidates in Egypt's presidential election on Saturday, each trying to claim the mantle of the uprising before a run-off next month.

State television said the Brotherhood's Mohamed Mursi led this week's vote with 26.4 percent, against 23 percent for ex-air force chief Ahmed Shafiq, according to preliminary results.

Hamdeen Sabahy, a secular leftist came a close third with 21.5 percent, followed by independent Islamist Abdel Moneim Abol Fotouh. Only the top two go to the deciding vote on June 16 and 17. Official first-round results are expected on Tuesday.

But Sabahy's lawyer said he would demand that the electoral committee halt the election until alleged voting irregularities had been investigated and until the constitutional court rules on whether Shafiq was legally eligible to stand.

"We have information that conscripts voted illegally," Sabahy told a raucous crowd of supporters outside his campaign headquarters late on Saturday. "We will not give up the rights of Egyptians."

The choice between Mursi and Shafiq, representing forces that have wrestled for the past six decades, has dismayed many Egyptians who voted for candidates offering a middle ground.

They fear a victory for the 70-year-old Shafiq, Mubarak's last prime minister, would snuff out hopes for change ignited by last year's uprising, while a win for Mursi would pitch Egypt into the uncertainties of experimenting with Islamic rule.

"Bread, freedom and social justice," cried the heaving crowd as Sabahy spoke and "The revolution is still on the street".

A young man kissed a baby held in its mother's arms and said: "The revolution was for you. We did it for you and we won't give it up easily".

The Brotherhood invited Sabahy, Abol Fotouh and other politicians for talks to canvas support before the runoff, but both Abol Fotouh and Sabahy made clear they would not attend.

Abol Fotouh, who had previously appeared to throw his weight behind the Brotherhood, to which he once belonged, said he would not start bargaining with the group over government positions.

"We seek to build a consensus that confronts the (Mubarak-era) remnants, but that also achieves the demands of the revolution and a project for a nation that accommodates all Egyptians with justice," he tweeted. "Clearly we will not be part of deals on distributing (government) posts."

A Brotherhood party official, Yasser Ali, had said the talks would discuss the vice presidency and a coalition government.

Warning of "determined efforts to recreate the old regime", the Brotherhood said parties that backed the anti-Mubarak revolt must unite "so that the revolution is not stolen from us".

The Brotherhood already holds the biggest bloc in parliament after an election completed in January, but has been unable to assert itself against an army-appointed interim government.

    WHO STOLE THE REVOLUTION?

Shafiq used strikingly similar language at a news conference in which he addressed youth groups that spearheaded last year's revolt. For many, he represents everything they want changed.

"Your revolution was stolen," Shafiq told them. "I pledge to return its fruits to your hands."

He said "the clock cannot be turned back", but that he would not let Egypt "drown in chaos".

Much of his rhetoric indirectly targeted the Brotherhood, playing on fears among Egypt's minority Christians and secular liberals that a Mursi presidency would threaten their freedoms.

"No exclusion of anyone or distancing of anyone," Shafiq declared. "Everyone has a right to be a part of this nation."

On Friday he told Egyptian television he saw no problem with the idea of a Muslim Brotherhood-led government if he were elected president.

The generals who took over when Mubarak quit on February 11, 2011, have promised to make way for a new president by July 1, formally ending a messy and often bloody political transition.

But the military, the source of all Egypt's past presidents, is keen to keep its privileges and influence, preferably enshrined in a new constitution. Political wrangling has held up the drafting process, so the next president will take office not knowing his powers or those of parliament and government.

Shafiq has won support among Egyptians who see him as the kind of strongman they feel the country needs to end 15 months of political instability, economic failure and rising crime.

Although Mursi topped the poll, his score was unimpressive compared to the Brotherhood's performance in the parliamentary election in which it gained nearly half the seats.

    WOOING RIVALS

Reform-minded independents such as Abol Fotouh and Sabahy between them won more votes than either Shafiq or Mursi, hinting at the growth of a new centre in Egypt's fluid political scene.

"The Brotherhood will have to reach out in a grand and dramatic way to the centre and the other political parties if they have any hope of winning their support and any hope of winning the presidency," said Elijah Zarwan of the European Council on Foreign Relations think-tank.

Some of the potential partners in an anti-Shafiq front will demand a political price.

The secular Justice Party, formed after last year's uprising, expressed "deep sorrow" at the result and set tough terms for the Brotherhood to win its support in the run-off.

It demanded a presidential system, whereas the Brotherhood favors a stronger parliament, called for a secular vice-president and said the Islamist movement must formally register itself for the first time in its 84-year-old history.

Long a thorn in Mubarak's side, the Brotherhood has looked increasingly isolated from other parties since his fall, first facing accusations it was slow to join the revolt and then that it acquiesced in the military rule that followed.

Trust in the Brotherhood eroded further when it reversed a pledge to stay out of the presidential race. The group, founded in 1928, says it is the target of a smear campaign.

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, whose Carter Center was among several foreign and local organizations that monitored the first-round vote, said procedures appeared to have been fair.

"I have confidence in this process, despite the fact that it's been confused on occasion," he told a news conference.

However, the Center's preliminary report noted some procedural irregularities and lack of secrecy for voters in some polling stations.

"The election authorities prohibited access (for monitors) to the final aggregation of national results, undermining the overall transparency of the process," it added.

(AP) ? A top Iranian nuclear official said that traces of enriched uranium discovered at an underground bunker came from a "routine technical issue," the country's official IRNA news agency reported Saturday.

Ali Asghar Soltanieh, Tehran's envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency, was responding to a report by the U.N. nuclear watchdog that said it had found radioactive traces at an Iranian nuclear site. The uranium found had been enriched to a level that is slightly closer to the threshold needed for nuclear weapons than Iran's previous highest-known enrichment grade.

The IAEA said in the confidential report obtained Friday by The Associated Press that it was asking Tehran for a full explanation about the traces. But the report was careful to avoid any suggestion that Iran was intentionally increasing the level of its uranium enrichment.

Tehran said the find was a technical glitch, according to the report. Analysts and diplomats said Iran's version sounded plausible.

The West suspects Iran is pursuing a weapons program. Tehran denies the charge, saying its nuclear program is aimed at peaceful purposes like power generation and cancer treatment.

Soltanieh said the report on Iran's nuclear activities was "historic evidence" that proved the peaceful nature of Iranian nuclear activities, while the uranium discovery was blown out of proportion for political reasons.

"This issue shows that some intend to damage the existing constructive cooperation between Tehran and the International Atomic Energy Agency," he was quoted as saying.

The higher the enrichment, the easier it becomes to re-enrich uranium to the 90 percent needed for weapons grade. As a result, the finding of traces at 27 percent at the Fordo enrichment plant in central Iran sparked international interest.

Iran denies any plans to develop nuclear weapons, but has for years declined offers of reactor fuel from abroad, including more recent inducements of 20-percent material if it stops producing at that level. The Islamic Republic says it wants to continue producing 20 percent uranium to fuel its research reactor and for medical purposes.

But its refusal to accept foreign offers has increased fears Tehran may want to turn its enrichment activities toward producing such arms. The concerns have been fed by IAEA suspicions that Iran has experimented on components of an atomic arms program ? suspicions Tehran also denies.

The report cited a May 9 letter from Iranian officials suggesting any enrichment at 27 percent was inadvertent. The letter said the particles were produced "above the target value" and could have been for "technical reasons beyond the operator's control."

But the IAEA report did detail some progress in talks between the U.N. nuclear agency and Iran that the agency hopes will relaunch a long-stalled probe into the suspicions that Tehran has worked on nuclear-weapons related experiments.

Amano will handover the report on Iran's nuclear activities to the board of directors of the agency later in June.

IRNA also reported that Iran's nuclear chief, Fereidoun Abbasi, said Saturday that Tehran will not open the Parchin site until the agency convinces the country it is necessary.

"If a visit to Parchin is to happen, they should convince us in advance. So far, no reason and evidence has been handed to us," Abbasi was quoted as saying.

After a short visit to Tehran last week, Amano said Iran and the agency will sign an agreement on inspection to the site, soon.

Iran and the world powers agreed to continue their talks in Moscow later in June after they held another round of talk on the Tehran's controversial nuclear program in Baghdad last week, the second in 2012 after a long stall since early 2011.
